Pablo Escobar owned various properties such as:-
1. Hacienda Napoles
Facts about Hacienda Napoles:
- It’s a 20-square-kilometre piece of land.
- It’s a 4-hour drive from Medellin in Colombia.
- Pablo invested over $60 million (60,000,000 Dollars) into the Estate.
It contained/contains;
- A Colonial House: Pablo slept on the second floor, and his bodyguards slept downstairs.
- A Sculpture Park: It contains a complete zoo with animals such as elephants, giraffes, hippopotamuses, parrots etc, from all over the world.
- Estates’ Airport: it’s where planes from different locations land after sending drugs or planes
carrying important people.
- Airplane runway: where planes land or depart would pass through.
A lot of prominent people who have used the runway include:
- Pablo Emilio Escobar (Him)
- Jose Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha
- The Ochoa Brothers
- Politicians, the military, and the police of his country.
Hacienda Napoles also had a bull-fighting Arena.
The land served as a vacation gateway for the Escobars.
It also served as the main shipping point to send drugs and receive cash.
To enter Hacienda Nepes, there were three rings of security.
The First Ring: They were always around Pablo Escobar to protect him; he had up to 70 armed people right next to him.
The Second Ring: It was 20 kilometres (20 km) away from Hacienda, protecting the boss, Pablo.
The Third Ring: They were located at the end of the mountain, around 60 Kilometres (60 km) away from Hacienda.
They all had Walkie-Talkies so that they could communicate with each other.
2. ‘La Catedral’
It’s the prison that Pablo Escobar built for himself.
It served as the headquarters (HQ) for the Medellín Cartel, where all operations were conducted.
In 1991, Pablo Escobar made a deal with the Colombian Government.
The deal was that his extradition to the USA would only be avoided if he ceased his reign of terror and agreed to serve time in the private prison he had constructed.
No police or government troops were allowed within 3 Kilometres of the premises.
The prison contained the following parts;
- Five Star Resort
- Ball Games
- Helipad
- Football Pitch
- Holding Cells
- Waiting Area
It is currently a nursing home for the elderly after the government seized the land.
3. ‘La Manuella‘
The property was named after his daughter, Manuela.
The ‘Les Pepes’ destroyed it because Pablo killed Fernando Galeano Berrio Mario and Gerardo Moncada Cuarty, after they didn’t follow Pablo’s orders.
Les Pepes wanted revenge, so they stole Pablo’s money available at the property.
