Jalang’o Education
Jalang’o went to Lake Primary School in Homabay in 1990.
He underwent hardship in school, such as walking to school barefoot for 8 years.
He would sometimes drink water for lunch.
Due to his hard work in his studies, Jalang’o achieved 442 marks in his final Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in 1997.
He then got a calling letter to join Maseno School, but due to the lack of school fees, he couldn’t join the school.
Jalang’o later joined Barkanyango Secondary School, where he studied for only Form one, then transferred to Nyangoma Boys Secondary School, where he did the rest of his secondary school and scored a Mean Grade of C+ in his final Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Exams in 2001.
He later joined Daystar University in 2014 and studied a Bachelor’s degree in Arts in Community Development from the School of Human and Social Science. He graduated in November 2020.
He also graduated from the Commonwealth Parliamentary School in Malta, Europe, in February 2025, earning a Certificate in Advanced Professional Development and a Skill-Building Residency Programme Certificate.
Jalang’o Hustling Journey
Jalang’o used to be a fisherman and a fishmonger.
He then worked for a fish company in Homabay called ‘Capital Fish Limited’.
His father later gave him 800 Kenya Shillings with two of his shirts and trousers and sent him to Nairobi.
He arrived in Nairobi in 2002 and worked as a Houseboy.
Jalang’o Acting Journey
Jalang’o started his professional acting career in the Kenya National Theatre while acting out set books for secondary schools.
His stage name ‘Jalang’o’ was given to him by the Late Charles Bukeko alias “Papa Shirandula”.
He got his first major acting role in a television series dubbed “Papa Shirandula” in 2007, which aired on Citizen TV.

- Kiss 100 (Radio Africa Group) alongside Caroline Mutuko
Nyambane had just left Kiss 100, and the management had to find a replacement for him on the Morning Show alongside Caroline Mutuko.
Jalang’o was the best fit and got the job the same day his father passed on.
His father left him a letter requesting him to build his mother a house and take his brothers to school.
He has already accomplished all his dad’s wishes.
Jalang’o first worked at Kiss 100, which is under the Radio Africa Group, from 2007 to 2013.
- Radio Maisha (Standard Group) alongside Alex Mwakideu
He later left Kiss 100 and joined Radio Maisha, where he hosted the Morning Radio Talk Show alongside Alex Mwakideu.
It propelled the station from being previously ranked as number 48 to number 1.
Jalang’o worked at Radio Maisha, which is under the Standard Group, from 2013 to 2017.
- Hot 96 (Royal Media Services – RMS) alongside Jeff Koinange
Jalang’o later left Radio Maisha and joined Hot 96, where he hosted the Morning Breakfast Show alongside Jeff Koinange (#jeffandjalas).
He worked in Hot 96, which is under Royal Media Services (RMS), from 2017 to 2018.
- Milele FM (Mediamax Network Limited) alongside Alex Mwakideu
Jalang’o later left Hot 96 and joined Milele FM, where he reunited with Alex Mwakideu in hosting the show. (#AlexandJalas).
He worked at Milele FM, which is under Mediamax Network Limited, from 2018 to 2020.
- Kiss 100 (Radio Africa Group) alongside Kamene Goro
In July 2020, Jalang’o rejoined Kiss 100 to be alongside Kamene Goro as he replaced Andrew Kibe, who left in June 2020. They hosted the Morning Breakfast Show dubbed #KameneandJalas.
He left in February 2022 to vie for the Langata Constituency Member of Parliament seat during the 2022 August General Elections.

He defeated his predecessor, Nixon Kiprotich Korir, garnering 38,948 votes while Nixon garnered 36,836 votes.
Jalango was also competing against Caroline Jepkemboi of Usawa kwa Wote Party, Osman Abdulahi of Kanu Party, Cliff Aboki of Ford Asili, Susan Odongo (Independent Candidate) and Thomas Awili (Independent Candidate).
