Maandy also known as Maandy Kabaya, whose real name is Amanda Mitchelle Wambui is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, Rapper, Entertainer and Performing Artist. She started her career as a DJ then switched sides and became a full-time musician in 2016. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in Events and Convention studies from The Technical University of Kenya in 2020.

Maandy Family
Maandy is from a family of two siblings.
Her big sister is currently a lecturer and is also doing her PhD.
Her father used to hand-make guitars while her mother is her biggest supporter.
Maandy Education
Maandy attended Moi Girls High School in Nairobi – Kenya from 2012 to 2015.
She then attended The Technical University of Kenya, earning a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Events and Convention Management for 4 years from 2016 to 2020.
Her Mother is the one who chose the course for her as she told her that she doesn’t want a hard course filled with mathematical calculations.
Maandy DJ Career
In 2015, After completing her high school education, she told her mother that she wasn’t going to join a computer school as the norm, but to a DJ school, and her mother supported her decision.
Maandy later DJed for various Events and TV Shows.
Besides where she used to practice her DJing, there was a music recording studio where she used to go and hang out.
The Producer at the studio once jokingly told her to record something small and she slowly fell in love with music.
With time she couldn’t balance between DJing and music, as DJing started being too much for her and she didn’t feel her heart was there despite her love for shows and music.
Maandy Music Journey
Maandy started her music career in 2016 when she released her first song in November 2016.
She later took a long year break.
She worked with producer JKV till 2017 then he left Nairobi.
Later in 2018, she released singles such as: Mad, Baddest, and Like a Boss among others.
1st Album: KABAYA
Maandy released her first album titled “Kabaya” on 24th February 2019.
The 8-track album contained singles such as: Wikipedia, Watiaji, Ride, Kabaya, Energy, Taste, Sema Nami Featuring Breeder LW and Amini.
Maandy mentioned that her intentions for the album were to release a body of work and for people to become aware of her.
2nd Album: FRISKY
The Rapper later released her second album titled Frisky on 10th November 2021.
The 12-track album contained singles such as: Mambo Gani, Relax, Shash na Lipgloss, Moneyback Freestyle, Magizani Featuring Breeder LW, Bad Gal Anthem Featuring Fena Gitu, Forbidden Fruit, Hivi na Hivo, Uongo, Money Man, Sirudi Home (Remix) Featuring Breeder LW & Ndovu Kuu and One Day.
The album got over 60,000 plays on the Boomplay music streaming platform within its first week of release.
Maandy described that her intentions with the album were to show that she is diverse as it has various sounds. She also didn’t want to be boxed into one genre.
She later felt that she didn’t do as much as she could regarding Promotion and Marketing then.
Maandy describes the whole process as a learning experience in writing, sounds and collaborations.
3rd Album: FLAVOUR
On 12th May 2023, Maandy released her third studio album titled Flavour.
The Album contained 11 tracks such as:- Sita Sita, Flavour, Tena Featuring Cedo, The Same, Dame Ka Mimi, Please, Ni Sawa, Spoil, B4 I GO, Nitarudi Featuring Savara and Ni Wetu Featuring Mejja.
1st EP: DEM MAURU
As an end-year project, she recently released her first EP (Extended Play) titled Dem Mauru on 30th December 2023.
The 6 track EP contained singles such as:- How Come Featuring Breeder LW, Lele (Remix), Dem Mauru, Mbichi, Bubbly Bubbly (Na Niki), and Emba Featuring Metro Suka Doba.
She has also collaborated with artists such as Iano Ranking, Sauti Sol, Trio Mio, Boutross, Exray, and Dj Gibbzy.
She has continued to release chart-topping singles and achieved various achievements in the music space.
Other Information about Maandy:-
During an appearance at The Mic Cheque Podcast Featuring Chaxy, Mwass and Mariah, she revealed that the most expensive gift she has ever bought for her Ex-Partner is a complete set of new car tires.
Also on the same podcast, she revealed that she doesn’t like any seafood, particularly Sardines and Fish.
